Not only practical as an accessory or key tray, it also makes a delightful interior piece to display your favorite small items—bringing a playful touch of Japanese art into your daily life.

Kamikiri no Kidan (The Curious Tale of the Hair-Cutting Monster)
This nishiki-e print illustrates a strange apparition said to have haunted Edo’s Banchō district. One night, a maidservant heading to the outhouse was suddenly attacked by a “pitch-black being” and fainted. When the household rushed to her aid and revived her, they found that her carefully tied hair had been cut off and left lying a short distance away. Utagawa Yoshitō (1828–1887) Active from the late Edo to the Meiji period, Yoshitō produced a wide range of works, from Yokohama-e (prints depicting foreigners and port scenes) and bijin-ga (images of beautiful women) to warrior prints such as his unique “Two-sided Warrior Portraits,” as well as measles prints. He also created numerous toy prints, sugoroku board games, and cut-out picture sheets. His meticulous style earned him the affectionate nickname “Toy Yoshitō.”
