Art panel paying homage to the works of legendary Kanazawa-born painter, Ohara Koson
A painter born and raised in Kanazawa, Ohara Koson produced many paintings from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century. Reminiscent of ukiyoe, his style is traditional, yet the highly realistic depictions and refined compositions give his works a modern beauty.
Inspired by Koson’s works, we have created gold leaf artworks paying homage to his artistry. While depicting the liveliness of animals as in Koson’s works, we have brought out a new charm by using gold leaf for the background. We have also changed the size of the works to a vertically long rectangle, giving them a modern look that blends in with contemporary interior decoration.
[Hawk and Warming Bird]
Almost completely buried in the feathers of the hawk, the small bird is a “warming bird.” Hawks catch small birds on cold nights to warm themselves and let them go the next morning. It is said that to repay their debt of gratitude, the hawks do not hunt in the direction where the warming bird flew away.
