Art panel paying homage to the works of legendary Kanazawa-born painter, Ohara Koson
A painter born and raised in Kanazawa, Ohara Koson produced many paintings from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century. Reminiscent of ukiyoe, his style is traditional, yet the highly realistic depictions and refined compositions give his works a modern beauty.
Inspired by Koson’s works, we have created gold leaf artworks paying homage to his artistry. While depicting the liveliness of animals as in Koson’s works, we have brought out a new charm by using gold leaf for the background. We have also changed the size of the works to a vertically long rectangle, giving them a modern look that blends in with contemporary interior decoration.
[Lotus and Sparrow]
This is one of his signature works belonging to the traditional Bird-and-Flower Painting category. The plump lotus flower with tints of red and the gradation of the leaves are absolutely gorgeous. Sparrows were a favorite motif of Koson.
