The History of Oil Blotting Paper Started from Hakuichi
Oil blotting paper is a cosmetic Japanese paper sheet used for removing oil from the face. Geigi performers of Kyoto and Kanazawa found haku-uchi-gami––Japanese paper used when pounding on gold leaf to stretch it––very useful as a tool for makeup touch-ups as it absorbed excess oil well. Inspired by this paper, we became the first company in Japan to productize oil blotting paper produced by gold leaf pounding paper method.

Development of Japan’s First Gold Leaf Pounding Paper Method
Oil blotting paper originated in Kanazawa where 99% of Japan’s gold leaf is produced. In 1976, we were granted Japan’s first patent for gold leaf pounding paper method, a production method developed by applying gold leaf production techniques. Oil blotting paper produced by this method absorbs more oil than general ones instantly as it is manufactured by pounding paper over and over to increase the density to the highest possible value by crushing the paper’s fiber.

Absorbs Oil from Skin Quickly
It is said that oil blotting paper’s instantaneous absorption ability is more important than its absorption amount. The key factor is the amount oil blotting paper can absorb just by being gently pressed against the skin when a makeup touch-up has to be done quickly. Many of the common oil blotting paper products made of pulp tend to make the users rub the sheet against their face because they do not absorb oil very well. Rubbing like this removes even the fresh, naturally produced oil the skin needs, causing dry skin. We developed oil blotting paper with high instantaneous absorption ability by expanding its surface area by adding grids to its soft surface.

Rigorously Selected Safe Materials
Our oil blotting paper is a skin-friendly and earth-friendly natural product. This safe and reliable product contains no fluorescent substance. In addition, our oil blotting paper is entirely made of carefully selected high-quality natural hemp fiber. As natural hemp grows fast, it can be harvested in 2 to 3 years. Unlike wood pulp which requires a few decades before harvest or petroleum film which is made of an exhaustible resource, natural hemp is an earth-friendly material.
